Syria bans 7 human rights activists from travel abroad, group says
: Syrian government have got banned seven human rights militants from leaving the country, a human rights grouping said Monday and demanded the measurement be revoked.
The group, called National Organization for Person Rights, said its head was among those included in the prohibition and called it a "punishment" that is contrary to the Syrian fundamental law and law.
The prohibition came to illume when the group's chief, Ammar Qurabi, was told earlier Monday by airdrome government that he could not go forth for Jordan River to take part at a meeting hosted by the Capital Of Jordan Center for Person Right Studies.
A similar traveling prohibition was recently slapped on Rasem al-Sayyed Suleiman, caput of the Arab Organization for Person Rights here, when he wanted to go to Turkey for a conference on Jerusalem, the grouping said.
According to the Syrian grouping statement, which was e-mailed to The Associated Press, others banned from traveling abroad were: Mustafa Oso, caput of the Kurdish Organization for Person Rights Defense, Radif Mustafa, caput of the Kurdish Committee for Person Rights, and three other human rights activists, Hashan Meshom, Serin Khori and Mustafa al-Hayed. The militants were informed of their prohibitions individually by in-migration authorities, when they tried to go forth the country.
There was no functionary verification of the ban. Syrian Arab Republic rarely remarks on security measurements against activists.
