Zimbabwe: UN Rights Chief 'Deeply Concerned' At Reports That Food ... - AllAfrica.com
The United Nations High Commissioner for Person Rights said today that she is "deeply concerned" at studies that the Government of Republic Of Zimbabwe have stopped nutrient statistical distributions by some international assistance federal agencies until after the presidential elections later this month.
"If true, this would be an unconscionable act," Louise Arbor said. "To strip people of nutrient because of an election would be an extraordinary sexual perversion of democracy, and a serious breach of international human rights law."
Ms. Arbor made her remarks in Roma shortly after addressing planetary leadership at the High High-Level Conference on World Food Security on the issue of human rights and food.
Last hebdomad the High Commissioner condemned violent deaths of resistance militants in Republic Of Zimbabwe in the run-up to the elections.
